While comfrey is well-known for its health benefits, it does also come with risks. It contains substances that can harm your liver, and also was discovered in England in the 1980s to be carcinogenic taken internally. Countries have banned the sale of oral comfrey preparations and advise against using on open wounds. Comfrey will actually heal at a cellular level, and the Yarrow is a great helper at the healing process.

Comfrey is such a versatile plant, is a dynamic nutrient accumulator and a must-have in any garden. Comfrey is the classic example with its deep penetrating roots which actively, attracts and churns up minerals and nutrients from deep within the subsoils, making them available at the soil surface and plants surrounding it. The yellow “Russian” variety is not the “True” Comfrey and should not be used for the same purposes. However, some disagree. Also, is a wonderful addition to oils for softened skin, but do not consume it.
